Katerina von Bennigsen, raised in Hamburg, was a member of the ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden from 2018 to 2024. There she appeared in roles such as Gretel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Musetta in LA BOHÈME, Ännchen, Gretchen in DER FREISCHÜTZ, Blonde in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Despina in COSÌ FAN TUTTE, Adele in DIE FLEDEMAUS, Amanda in LE GRAND MACABRE, Scintilla in SATYRICON and Wanda in DIE GROSSHERZOGIN VON GEROLSTEIN.
In the season 24ǀ25 she joined Theater Bonn, where she appeared as Adina in the new production of L’ELISIR D’AMORE, Pamina in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Gretel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Hannah in the world premiere DIE BLAUE SAU and Silwana in MUSIK FÜR DIE LEBENDEN. In the season 25ǀ26 she makes her debut at the Aalto-Theater Essen as Gilda in the premiere of RIGOLETTO.
Guest engagements have taken the soprano to numerous renowned houses, including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Köln, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Leipzig, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Bühnen Halle, Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater, Theater Magdeburg, Gärtnerplatztheater München, Staatstheater Cottbus, Theater Kiel and Teatro communale di Modena in roles such as Gilda in RIGOLETTO, Pamina in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Sophie in ROSENKAVALIER, Zerlina in DON GIOVANNI, Marzelline in FIDELIO, Jemmy in GUILLAUME TELL, Sophie in WERTHER, Fiakermilli in ARABELLA, Olympia in HOFFMANNS ERZÄHLUNGEN and Joanna in SWEENEY TODD.
On her artistic journey, Katerina has worked with outstanding conductors such as Alan Gilbert, Omer Meir Welber, Stefano Ranzani, Paolo Arrivabeni, Konrad Junghänel, Jonathan Darlington, John Fiore, Srba Dinić, Alexander Soddy, Petr Popelka and Anna Skryleva.
Katerina completed her vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. KS Hanna Schwarz, Prof. Carolyn James und Prof. Burkhard Kehring specializing in Lied. Already during her studies, the talented singer made her debut at the Hamburgischen Staatsoper as Bubikopf in DER KAISER VON ATLANTIS and participated in several productions of the opera studio there. She further refined her skills in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Montserrat Caballé, Edda Moser, Helen Donath, Margreet Honig and John Norris.
